Wrapping up VJTV version 2 (aka the vj.tv blog)

If you’re just stumbling across vj.tv for the first time, you’re in for a treat. I’ve cataloged some of the coolest and most creative videos of the past 5 years here. Dig in and look around. Thanks =)

For everyone else…

I’ve been working on VJTV since 2001. Initially it was a public access TV show in San Francisco focused on showcasing amazing visuals and VJs from around the world. We quickly added a website (vjtv.net) to show clips, but it never really grew from there. In 2008 I decided to try a blog format, but services like Vimeo channels and Twitter have since made this format slightly obsolete for basic video posts.

I have some fun ideas of what vj.tv version 3 will be but it will take some time and resources to get it in place. As I picture it now, it will be a YouTube like service for video DJs. Video mixes seem to have greater rights than audio mixes so I think there’s room and opportunity for it.

Why stop now? I haven’t been posting much this year because I’ve been really busy with cloud.tv which is my core. In my free time I’ve been focused more and more on DJing, which is one of my great life-long passions. As such, I’m starting a new project: an internet radio station called earcandy.fm. I’m also posting mixes on Beatport and plan to offer DJ tips & such on my personal blog radleymarx.com.

But this also means I need to wrap up any outstanding distractions which includes vj.tv. No worries – vj.tv is probably one of the coolest doman names evah, so I won’t let it go stale or fall into the wrong hands. But I could be sitting on it for another 2-3 years before you see some embers…

Thanks for reading, thanks for following, and of course a huge thanks to all of the artists for making such sweet stuff =)
